Today was a phenomenal day, I left this morning from Santo Domingo and arrived at Belorado. I found a cheap hostel with an unimaginable luxury on the Camino: A POOL! If you know me, you know I love the pool and so I probably swam for 2 hours or so. Since I left my Camino family in Lagroño I’ve been mostly without friends but I met a ton of friendly people tonight and hope to walk with them for at least a few days, until I inevitably need to rest my legs again. What I thought was an ankle injury is actually shin splints, which is a bummer but I have an appointment with a physical therapist in Burgos at 12pm on Friday. To make it there on time, I will walk about 20 miles tomorrow to Atapuerca so that I only have 12 or so miles to do on Friday morning. I also picked up a pair of hiking poles to help with the hills and they are so far indispensable.
I am tremendously grateful for this experience, the people I have met, the foods I have tried, and my support team back home. A HUGE shoutout to my friends Alexis and Phil. Alexis is managing all of my social media while I’m gone and editing content for you all to watch on TikTok/Instagram/YouTube, and Phil was instrumental in launching the website. I couldn’t have the online presence and connect with you all without them. Thank you so much Phil and Alexis!!
Tonight I go to sleep with a belly full of vegetables, fish, bread, and wine and ankles slathered in Spanish icyhot and ibuprofen cream.
Thank you again to everyone who pledged a donation or offered kind words, your generosity is what keeps me going in moments of weakness.
¡Buen Camino!
